Fabulous, Inexpensive Glowing Garden Orbs

I found this DIY project at the blog Tip Junkie, who found it on the blog The Art of Doing Stuff. Both blogs have lots and lots of instructions for do it yourself projects. I love this one. It's easy, inexpensive and makes a big impact in your garden or on your patio. This is definitely going on my to do list. The timing is perfect. I'm trying to fix up the patio for summer.
Instructions are here...

You Can Make a Difference - AIDS/LifeCycle

My dear friend and fellow baby boomer, Les is riding his bicycle from San Francisco to Los Angeles. That's a 545 mile ride over 7 days. He is one of thousands who will be riding to help raise money at the AIDS/LifeCycle event.

This marks the tenth year for AIDS/LifeCycle and the eighteenth for the event overall, and during the week of June 5-11, 2011 cyclists and volunteer roadies will come together to do something incredible. Something that will change lives.

We can help Les make a difference. To find find out more and to support Les in his ride, visit his LifeCycle page. We can help Les make a difference.

Hope you will join me and my friends as we get the dance party going. Stay tuned for details.

Italiano Filter in iPhone CameraBag App

One of my favorite iPhone photo apps is CameraBag. They just added a cool new filter called Italiano.

I love the romantic feel of this filter.

It gives nature images a mysterious look.

I think this filter will work really well for street photography.

I brought these pictures into CameraBag's Italiano filter and then into the Diptic app.

Fabulous Car - Wonder What the Gas Milage Is?

I saw this car last weekend and couldn't resist taking a picture. Love the color. I took this picture with my iPhone and brought the image into the CameraBag app to edit.

Eye Reader App - Cool!

I just came across this very cool app...the Eye Reader. I just downloaded it and it's very cool. So often I am in a store, trying to read the back of a package, and it's impossible with those tiny tiny print. This works great and will always be handy on my iPhone.

Summer Issue of Artful Blogging

The summer issue of Artful Blogging is available. Off to go find it. Love this magazine.

May Snow in California???

File this under strange weather! Was surprised to wake up to snow on Sunday at my friends' cabin. A couple days earlier they were sitting in these chairs in t-shirts and warm weather.

I took this picture through the window with my iPhone and Camerabag app.

This Month's Top Ten Tips From My Favorite Magazines - May

1.  I discovered Sicis Art Mosaic Factory in New York Spaces magazine. I just love their mosaic walls and the furniture is so much fun, although hard to imagine snuggling under a blanket reading a book on this one.

2.  This month's O Magazine has a great article called 5 Great Things About Getting Older by Donna Brazile. Love her point of view.

3.  Also in O this month were these adorable flip flops from FitFlop Footwear at Zappos. They not only look cute, but tone muscle and improve your posture. At $80 a little pricey compared to my regular old rubber flip flops, but just might be worth it. They're so cute. I would probably live in them all summer...maybe two summers.

4.  I saw this Eiffel Tower model advertised in several of my favorite magazines this month. Would love to have that in my guest room. It's from Restoration Hardware, but at $1745, I'm afraid my guests are not going to wake up feeling like they are in Paris any time soon.

5.  I discovered the wonderful aerial painting of Yvonne Jacquette in this month's Elle Decor. Love this piece called Lake Shore Drive II.

6.  What an amazing hallway from this month's House Beautiful. How could you not want to walk through those stunning curtains to see the rooms on the other side. After seeing this picture I am re-thinking putting a door on the guest room. Maybe I'll do curtains instead. The only problem is my dog Lola will want to go in and sleep on the bed with my guests.

7.  I also found these Chef's Pencils in House Beautiful. They are from a web site called Reform School Rules.

8.  Can you believe it's been 50 years since the release of Breakfast at Tiffany's? In honor of Audrey Hepburn, Oliver Goldsmith has released a replica of the shades worn by Holly Golightly.

9.  You just know that these flowers in ice cubes had to come from Martha Stewart's Living. She suggests you get King size ice cube trays from William Sonoma and make sure you use edible flowers.

10.  Martha also suggests putting sliced strawberries on your peanut butter sandwich. (I'm thinking it just might work on toast with nutella too!)
