Halloween Breakfast

Okay, before you judge... remember there is an apple under all that carmel and nuts yumminess.

Breakfast

Don't you just love how I photograph all my calories! It's how I deal with my guilt. I can eat it, but I have to photograph it and show the world... Somehow it doesn't seem so bad if I blog about it.

Orange

I just discovered a very cool blog for photographers called Words To Shoot By. It's a group blog where each month the 25 participating photographers use the same word for inspiration. The October word was...you guessed it...orange. Nice inspiration for going out and photographing.

Cameras and Cupcakes

Taking a photography workshop this weekend in San Francisco from Andrea at Hula Seventy. I'm going to learn how to take a digital picture through a twin reflex camera. I bought my little Kodak Duaflex II so am all ready for some fun. I hear there will be cupcakes too (from Sibby's Cupcakery). I love props that you can eat!

Update
Terrific workshop. It was well worth driving to San Francisco in the pouring rain and finding a parking space. I think it had the perfect workshop combination of friendly fun, inspiration, and learning a new skill. Plus there were those yummy cupcakes from Sibby's Cupcakery. Andrea plans more workshops so be sure to check out Andrea's blog Hula Seventy (which is a treasure of inspiration in itself).

I'll post some of my new ttv (through the viewfinder) photographs soon.

Another New iPhone Photography App

While I was in New York, I was checking out some of the iPhone photo apps that I had downloaded. Sometimes I will download an app that looks interesting, but it might be awhile until I have time to play with it. One such app is Diptic  It lets you easily combine multiple photos into a new image. I like how you can tell a story when you combine the photographs. I think it works particularly well when traveling. You have a choice of layouts. You can see how I used it in my Window Shopping in New York post below.

Window Shopping In New York City

Broadway Bomb

I was walking down Broadway when a gazillion (okay 450) skateboarders went flying past me. Found out it was the "illegal" Broadway Bomb skateboard run across Manhattan. The guy in the pink underwear was greated with hoots and hollers and was followed down the street by a police car.

My Favorite Little New York Hotel

Heidi Klum's New Balance Clothing Line

If you watched Project Runway last night you heard all about Heidi Klum's new clothing line New Balance, sold on Amazon. This morning it's online and looks terrific - comfortable, stylish, easy to wear. The line includes the three winning designs from last night's show.

Last Night I Cut Bangs

Last night just before midnight I decided I wanted bangs. Wish I had read this article on how to cut bangs first. I like them okay, but think my hair-stylist niece is going to have to clean them up a bit for me. Why does the urge to do something different with my hair always come so late at night?

Flower Flour

There's a great little cafe in Willow Glen called Flower Flour. Owner Mimi Chiang-Brown is the chef, baker, and florist. My friend Joan and I had lunch there yesterday...quiche and crepes....yummmmm. Joan had the more "healthy" strawberry crepe, while I of course went for the chocolate.

Chiang-Brown and her husband also grow organic fruit trees and vegetables on their land in the San Jose foothills, providing fresh, seasonal produce. They have the most wonderful cakes...every day as well weddings. I'll be heading back soon for more treats.

Orchids In A PhotoBooth - A New iPhone App

I love love love photo booth photographs. I always consider them a real find when I run across them at a flea market. A while back I discovered a very cool blog called PhotoBooth.net that's all about...you guessed it... photo booths. They even have a photo booth locator.

Yesterday while visiting their blog, I discovered a new iPhone app called Pocketbooth: a photobooth in your pocket. That's an app I had to try. Now I know photo booth pictures are always self portraits. However, I had no makeup on, my hair was a mess and I was wearing an old sweater and jeans....so I took a "portrait" of my orchids, a gift from my friend Joan.

I see a lot of fun in my future with this app!

First Pumpkins

Doesn't seem possible that it is October already.  Photograph taken with my iPhone4 and the Camerabag app.

My Favorite Inspiration - Anthropology, the store

My very favorite source of inspiration is the store Anthropologie. I love their clothes, their home goods, their displays, their ads and their website. I especially love their show Man Shops Globe (on the Sundance channel) with buyer Keith Johnson.

Anthropologie's October catalog is out and it makes me want to shop, travel and make things.
