Project 365

I recently downloaded an iPhone app called Project365. It's purpose is to encourage you to take a picture every day. I love the little calendar that you use to add your current photograph. They also text you daily to remind you to take a picture...cool.

New iPhone Photo App - Vintage Scene

I recently downloaded a couple of new photo apps. I shot the image of San Francisco houses with my iPhone 4 camera and then brought it into the Vintage Scene app. I played around with the options in the first paint box and then added texture in the third paint box.

For the picture of the Golden Gate Bridge I played around with the effects in Vintage Scene and saved the image I liked best. I then brought the image into the Camerabag app and applied the instant effect.

The Best Ice Cream Ever....

What a great weekend. I went to a BBQ with some high school friends I adore and haven't seen in years. Then Sunday hung out with my friend Joan in Santa Cruz. We took a long stroll along the esplanade. It was a gorgeous day and so many surfers out waiting for a big wave.

Joan was telling me about a new ice cream place that she had not tried out yet. So of course we needed to check it out. They had the very best ice cream I have ever had in my life.

...and that stuff on top...not chocolate...not carmel. It was dulce de leche and all I can say is yummmmmm! So if you have not tried The Penny Ice Creamery yet...run, don't walk. The ice cream is made right there. The flavors change all the time. They also will let you taste samples like Devout Stout, Quince Sorbet and Strawberry and Pink Peppercorn.

August Top Ten Tips From My Favorite Magazines

I am late...so very very late...

freshHome Magazine
1.  I absolutely adore this outdoor table/waterfall. I couldn't find any details about where it is from. If anyone knows leave me a comment.

2.  Love these "rills" - the narrow channels based on the old irrigation systems of old Mideastern gardens.

3.  I love hammocks but have never been to fond of napping in rope hammocks like the one above. However this one has a feather bed topper that makes it perfect. I love the quote too.
4.  FreshHome has a very cool DIY project for building a clothesline that doubles as a trellis for flowering vines. You can see the instructions at Cultivating Life With Sean Conway.

Real Simple
5.  Such a cool idea...a makeup palette where you can pop in all of your different makeup pans. Comes in 5 fun colors.

6.  Pretty expensive for a door stop at $190, but so much fun. Available at Areaware.

7.  While cruising around areaware I also found this loop necklace which I think is very cool.

8.  Love this Swing With Plants from placesandspaces. There's a built in planter space so that you can make flowering vines go up the ropes. How cool is that?

9.  Love this Amaranth Flamingo limited edition print by Chloe Croft.

10.  I thought this Arredo Day Bath was wonderful. I only have a shower and drool over beautiful tubs.

Today's iPhoneography

The last Dahlia blooming in my yard. Photograph taken with my iPhone 4 with HDR on and camerabag app.

I Have A New iPhone!

I decided to update to the new iPhone 4 for three reasons...
1. the 5-Megapixel Camera
2. the LED Flash
3. the wider range of light intensity using the HDR setting

Okay 4 reasons...it's so much fun...except when you want to talk on the phone.

Are you kidding me ATT? Last night I was in the back yard at 10 p.m. walking around trying to find just one place where I could stand to make a telephone call. Steve...fix this. I live in the California wine country not Alaska. How hard should it be to be able to make a telephone call?

San Francisco Bloggy Boot Camp

I went to SITS Bloggy Bootcamp workshop in August. I can't believe I am just now getting around to posting my pictures. It was a great workshop. Tiffany did a terrific job , as always, providing useful information, and a friendly atmosphere in a beautiful environment.

It was held in San Francisco. I drove up Friday evening and walked around Union Square. I did a little window shopping...

It was held at the stunning, historic Westin St. Francis Hotel right on Union Square. This landmark opened in 1904, becoming the center of the city's social, literary and artistic life. It was built with the vision of making San Francisco the "Paris of the West".

I've heard the Starwood Hotels (Sheraton, Westin, Aloft, etc) had great beds and boy are they right. That bed was super comfy.

The views were magnificent...

...especially from the 32nd floor where the workshop and lunch were held. Oh and did I mention that as I left I got off on the mezzanine to take a picture of the lobby and I heard singing. I peeked around the corner...and there were American Idol finals. The security guard could not be bribed into revealing who the judges were.

Exercise: It's An Hour A Day, People. Seriously

That 30 minutes of daily exercise you think you’re supposed to do to keep weight off? You need to step it up, people. As much as twice that amount may be needed to lose weight and keep it off.

One Hour A Day

I keep reading how one hour a day of exercise has so many health benefits. Thinking I will combine dance and walking Lola to get that hour in each day. Does anyone notice how I keep redoing my dancing commitment to try to better fit my life?

Doing...

I sometimes find it difficult to find time for both doing and blogging about doing. It's catch up time.
