Keep On Dancing - Day 5
WARNING!!!!
Okay I tried dancing while making dinner. It might work while tap dancing (when mostly your lower body is moving), however, if you are a shake it all over kind of dancer it gets pretty scary with a paring knife in your hand. So I decided to dance while unloading groceries and sweeping the kitchen. That works really well...especially using the broom while dancing to a salsa tune.
Today I Danced...
time of day - early evening
for how long - 30 minutes
mood before - 5
mood after - 7
(mood scale and chart is in the left column under the clock)

Tap Dancing In The Kitchen
I love how she's making dinner while dancing. I'm going to try that! (Not tapping, just shaking it a bit to Aretha.)

Something New
Something's new at my web store. I'm now selling hand fans. They are all created by hand and are perfect for those warm summer events including festivals, weddings, baby and wedding showers, wine tastings, picnics...and more. They're also perfect for those of you who, like me, dance around your kitchens. I don't know about you, but a few minutes of dancing to Aretha's "Respect" and I need a hand fan. They easily fit in my purse, so if you know anyone going through those nasty little hot flashes...they are great to carry with you or, as my friend Joan says, "good to have in every room of the house."
They retail for $2.50 each. I do special orders (with your logo or blog info?), for fund raising, weddings etc. Click on the fan to view my collection (there's 36 different designs).

The Blues
I love the blues. This video sends shivers right up my spine. I can play it over and over and love it more each time. My friends Dan and Joan sent me the link via Playing For Change.

Michael Jackson RIP
No matter what was going on with his personal life, he was a musical genius and no one can dance like Michael Jackson. Below are some of my favorite Michael Jackson songs.

Reading With A Pen In My Hand
I find it impossible to read a book without holding a pen between my two fingers like a cigarette. I have read that way since studying in college. If I try to read without a pen, I keep thinking "I need to go get a pen" instead of focusing on the book or magazine (yes I need a pen even when reading a magazine.)
I underline and write thoughts about what I am reading (or any other thoughts that might come to me) in the margins. I seldom go back and read my notes, although I plan to "someday" transfer them to my journals. Because of all this note doodling, I find it very hard to get rid of books. First it's kind of embarassing - after all who knows what all I wrote in those books. And second I might need those notes - after all who knows what all I wrote in those books.
So, I've decided to occasionally add a post called Reading With A Pen In My Hand that focuses on my notes and underlinings of one such book...the first one to be posted as soon as I decide on which book to use.

Saving Your Jackson Pollack
If you have been playing with the Jackson Pollack widget, in the right column, and want to save your masterpiece - here's how. I use the Apple utility Grab. It's very easy to use. Be sure and use the selection tool and not the window or screen tools.

Today's iPhone Polaroid
Do these sweet little lemon meringues not look perfectly innocent? Well they're not so bad if I had stopped at the ones on the plate, but when I finished and looked at the calorie count I had eaten over 500 calories!Notes to self - Do not eat cute little meringue thingies like popcorn. Read the calorie count before eating - not after.
Two New Features
I have added two new widgets. Scroll down the right column and you will find them under the 30 Day Dance Challenge Invitation.
1. French Phrase Of The Day - Click on "listen" and you can hear the phrase.
2. Paint Your Own Jackson Pollack - move your mouse around the Jackson Pollack canvas and see what you can create. When you click your mouse you will change paint colors.

One Dress For A Year
One of my favorite blogs - A Cup Of Jo has a post about this project by designer Sheena Matheiken. She is wearing one dress for a year - each day changing it with different accessories. This has me wanting to clean everything but a few outfits out of my closet and load my drawers up with accessories. I tend to like to wear black, brown or grey anyway. Everytime I buy a piece of clothing in colors, it just sits in my closet. Now accessories are something else - I love scarves, jewelry - haven't worn a belt in a long time, but Michelle Obama is sure inspiring me to lose some of my middle so I can wear a belt over a cardigan sweater.
Be sure to go visit A Cup of Jo. It really is a terrific blog.

The Sonoma Hot Air Balloon Classic
Awake at 4:15 (That's 4:15 a.m.! - thanks for the wake up call Tricia), dressed and at Starbucks by 4:45, at launching site with friends and coffee at 5:15. It was a spectacular morning!
First three balloons are ready to launch.
...and they're off.
This was my favorite balloon. It's called Sushi.
The clouds and weather were perfect.
More and more balloons launch. Click here to see the list of 32 balloons.
The energizer bunny balloon is the biggest in the country. See how tiny that passenger basket is?
and then the fog started to roll in - beautiful sight.

and then the fog started to roll in - beautiful sight. There was a D.J. playing some great music. As all the balloons began to launch she played...Come Fly With Me - Frank Sinatra
.
Okay maybe a tiny bit corny, but it really did feel like a nice touch as we all swayed and sang while watching the balloons fly away.
To see more pictures head on over to my friend Krissy's blog. She took some great photographs.

Dreaming in URLs???
This morning I woke to the words GoBe dot com. Most days I wake up obsessing over my to do list. Sometimes I wake with a song going through my head, or an idea for an image. Never have I had a web address as my first morning thought...and so the questions...
Go where?
Be what?
Be Who?
Is this some sort of zen koan I should be meditating on (or a very short haiku)?
Of course I had to type in the web address. It's business software for a P.C. Nothing there for me - I have never owned anything but Macs (and most likely never will as I am a true fan - I even love how Apple packages their products).
So if this is divine inspiration or creative inspiration...why don't they ever come with an explanation? Or maybe it's just what I ate before going to bed (popcorn). Any thoughts?

Photo Booths
I have always loved photo booths. I remember getting my picture taken in the old fashion kind as a little girl (and of course I adored the movie Amelie). I just found a photo booth blog....It had this picture...I would love to have this photo booth in may home, although it would take up a huge portion of my little cottage.

iTunes Genius
My niece gave me a quick iTunes lesson - showing me how to use the genius feature. And I must say it is...well if not genius, at least down right cool.
I clicked on a song in my "shimmy in my spirit" playlist and then opened up the genius side bar.
It then showed me a list of other songs that are similar...a whole list of new musicians that I might like...very cool. On the list I discovered....
