I have mentioned before that I am an iPod/iPhone junky. There's worse bad habits to have. I also like shoes (actually sandals - I like sandals a lot) but I am not an impulse shoe buyer (Probably only because I work at my computer, most days, at home, barefoot and in an old t-shirt and sweat pants.)I've had numerous iPod debates - to buy or not to buy. This time it's about the iPhone. Now, I don't really need a new iPhone. I just got mine in April. However....the new 3gs has some very cool features.
*It is the fastest phone ever - and even though I am gradually becoming the slowest person ever, I like fast computer thingies.
*I can shoot video. I have never shot video in my life, but you never know.
*New 3 mexapixel camera with tap auto focus. Now that is a big plus for me.
*It now has a compass - might be handy, but I already have an app for finding my lost car and I don't tend to get lost out in the woods or on the "appalachian trail" or anything.
So the question for me - is a faster phone, that I can boss around, with a better camera worth $199? What do you think?

Well I would say hold off for now - I'm hearing some reports of bugs of some sort - or overheating batteries or something. Of course I only heard it in the background somewhere - the radio, TV, not sure. But it sounded like there are some problems with the new iphone. But remember - I'm the one who can't tell an African violet from a begonia!
I actually asked an apple employee. They said the camera was the only reason to upgrade. If you are looking strictly at the phone and apps, you're fine with what you have.

The practical answer is to probably wait. There are some things in life, though, that don't necessarily require a practical answer!
Awww Cynthia, I totally understand your dilemma, I recently switched my blackberry for the iphone and felt really betrayed because I suspect the apple guy was thinking the whole time what a big sucker I was. I’m pretty sure he knew that Apple would release a new phone. I got over it, but my husband is still sulking. :-)
Let me ask you this... Do you want a totally awesome phone? :p In my opinion I would go for it. I didn't need an Iphone either, but I got one, and that was when they first came out, my hubby has their newer one, and he loves it I love it, you can do so much with it it's amazing. So if you get an Iphone you won't need an Ipod because you'll have one in your phone. :p
