I loved the book and am looking forward to the HBO series. I know where I am going to be Sunday night...watching HBO with a glass of one of my favorite wines - Sones Cellars Petite Sirah.Update: That was fun. The 2 hr pilot began somewhat slowly as they established who Precious is, how she decided to become a detective, and introduced the other characters. Jill Scott is terrific as Precious and one thing for sure - there's going to be great music.

I loved the books and have been looking forward to the t.v. series with the wonderful singer, Jill Scott. I wasn't disappointed last night. The setting, Botswana, makes the story line all the more fascinating and fun. For those who know The #1 Ladies' Detective Agency series, I think that you will find Jill Scott to be the perfect actress to play the engaging heroine, Precious. By the way, thanks Cynthia Louden, for this uplifting blog! I was happy to find it..... I could use a little shimmy in my spirit! Kay
